Countdown to Race

The Herepath Half is a trail race, organised by Taunton's Running Forever Running Club and will be run for the eighth time on Sunday 31st October 2021 at 10.30am (date to be confirmed).

Due to the ongoing uncertainty about mass gatherings caused by the current pandemic, we have taken the difficult decision to not hold the Herepath Half in 2020. While it is possible that things will change before October, we feel that it would be irresponsible for the running club to commit funds at this time. Additionally, other clubs that have already spent money on their races have rearranged them to the autumn, and it feels more appropriate that if races are happening, they get our full support. All being well, we will be back in 2021, and hopefully you'll all be raring to go!

The route generally follows the Staple Fitzpaine Herepath Trail in the Blackdown Hills and is approximately 13.7 miles long. The trail reaches the highest point in the Blackdowns with fabulous views.

Herepaths were originally important trade and communication routes between settlements during the ninth century - they are often referred to as people's paths.

Each finisher will receive a memento and there will be trophies for the first male and female runners. The first male and female runners to break the course record (1:28:20
and 1:40:32 respectively) will receive a cash prize of £25.

The race is being run in conjunction with Thurlbear Primary School and the entry fee includes a donation to the school PTA. Limited parking, baggage storage and toilets at the school. Refreshments available for a donation.

This year the race is included in the Somerset Series.
